About us

OUR INSPIRATION

“As long as there’s light, we’ve got a chance.” — Poe Dameron, Star Wars: The Force Awakens Eric and Ruba Jacobs founded the TSJ Foundation in 2017 in honor of Eric’s mother, Theresa. Theresa “Terry” Jacobs was a beloved mother, grandmother, artist, and educator who touched countless lives during her 30 years in the classroom. Terry spent most of her career at Lake Braddock High School in Fairfax County, where she taught art and photography. Her passion for painting, pottery, and photography was infectious, inspiring students to explore their own creativity. She dedicated her life to helping others see beauty in the world—and within themselves. “Losing my mother to cancer was the hardest experience of my life. It’s difficult to find words that truly capture her spirit, but what stands out most to me is her unshakable kindness. She was a selfless, caring person who put everyone before herself. Even in her final days, her thoughts were with her family and how we would handle losing her. Watching her face her illness with such grace and strength inspired me to turn my grief into a purpose: to honor her memory by creating something that would continue her legacy of inspiring others.”
